Madeline Leake opened Colony Shop in 1972 on Avenue G in the heart of downtown Fort Madison, Iowa. What began as a women's clothing boutique grew into the region's most trusted bridal destination — carrying the most current trends for fashionable women of all ages, including the finest bridal and formalwear.

Questions brides always ask.

Walk-ins are always welcome. For bridal styling sessions, we recommend calling ahead at (319) 372-8271 so we can set aside dedicated time for you and your guests. For prom and other formalwear, feel free to stop in any time during store hours.

We carry sizes 00 through 5X across our collections. We believe every bride and every guest deserves to feel extraordinary, and our size-inclusive selection reflects that. If you're unsure whether we have your size in a particular style, give us a call.

We recommend starting your bridal search 10–12 months before your wedding. Many gowns are special-ordered and can take several months to arrive, and you'll want time for alterations. That said, we often have dresses available sooner — call us and we'll let you know what we have in stock.

We are proud to be an authorized Morilee retailer — one of a select group of Iowa boutiques carrying this nationally recognized bridal designer. We also carry GLS Collective ($258–$858) and other select lines. Our current collection changes seasonally, so the best way to see everything is to come in and browse.
